VILLAINS (R) 2019 ‧ Drama/Thriller - Review

Villains is a 2019 American thriller comedy film written and directed by Dan Berk and Robert Olsen. It stars Bill Skarsgård, Maika Monroe, Blake Baumgartner, Jeffrey Donovan, and Kyra Sedgwick.

Bill Skarsgard, better known for his performance as the terrifying 'Pennywise' from the recent Steven King reboots of 'IT' - shows a much more human and loving side in this film, with Maika Monroe. The two of them had wonderful chemistry and the "Car wash" part... come on people, That's cute! All cuteness aside, there was definitely some horror elements as well. Just enough to keep you interested, but if that's not totally your thing, don't fear... there's comedy too ! it really did have a roller coaster of emotions and to me that's the best kinds of stories. Humans are a mess of emotions, so its easy to relate. All of them could be considered Villains ( hint at the title ) but its all just as easy to feel empathetic for them as well. no bad guy really thinks of himself as a BAD guy right? Well this is a good example of that. I had a lot of fun with this one and i would definitely watch again!! Dan Berk and Robert Olsen make a great writer/director team - I will be on the watch for what they do next !
